Basics of Website Promotion

November 24th, 2010

Some webmasters devote all their time to website promotion but forget about the content they are promoting. Others develop wonderful content that ends up hidden in a cul de sac on the web. Webmasters can achieve balance by both developing quality content and promoting it effectively. Keep in mind these basics of web site promotion as you develop your web site’s strategy.

Submit to Search Engines and Major Directories

The most obvious way to promote your web site is to make sure the major search engines and directories know who you are and where to find you. These are some of the major search engines. Make sure you submit to search engines. It’s a good practice to give the search engine’s submission policies a glance before jumping in.

  • Google
  • Open Directory Project (DMOZ)
  • Yahoo

Provide

What’s the most rewarding way to promote your web site? Create something of value and give it to your visitors. You may not be a writer, programmer, or artist but most webmasters have some sort of creative skill or expertise that others need. If you can offer your web site’s visitors something of good quality that’s free, they will love you. Here are some examples of content that you can create and offer freely on your web site to establish your presence and attract visitors:

  • Freeware programs, screen savers, scripts
  • Graphics like wallpaper, backgrounds, icons
  • Articles, tutorials, or reviews
  • Advice, tips, or Q&A’s
  • Free quotes for a service you offer

Get Links

Link well, and often. Because of the emphasis that search engines like Google place on link popularity, it’s important that your web site be linked from other web sites, especially from sites that are high in traffic and search engine ranking. Generally, webmasters will want to exchange or links with you if doing so will send them quality traffic.

The simplest way to get a link from someone with a related site is to simply ask. You can send an e-mail in the below form letter, just make sure it’s personal and targeted at someone who runs a web site with content related to yours. Most web site owners can discern a genuine request from a blanketed spam offer.

Partner

You cannot single-handedly commandeer the Internet. If you see a classy web site with products or services that might complement yours, then send the webmaster an e-mail introducing yourself and suggesting ideas for combining forces. Suggest adding your chocolate to his peanut butter to create a Reese’s Cup.

Become Active in Forums

With the advent of fast and well-coded forum packages such as vBulletin Instant Community, forums have become a valuable exchange for learning, networking, and promoting. Visit forums related to your web site’s topic and offer your expertise or ask questions. As you talk it up with others in your line of work, forum visitors will respect your remarks and many will notice your signature link and visit your web site. Search excellent webmaster forum in which to explore this idea & obviously post your blogs, share your stories with other on twitter,digg,etc.

Benefits of dedicated servers in games website.

November 24th, 2010

Every once life one is the time when he/she have his own game to play. In today’s market you can see allover digital games are more popular like xbox360, play station and Nintendo games capture the game markets. But can you think it why everyone likes to play online? And this base idea of dedicated server games theme.

Everyone cannot afford to buy Xbox 360, play-station or Nintendo But; current games versions available on Internet are better than to play alone. There quality display, speed is specially made to give you a high quality excitement, and these kinds of things are possible through dedicated servers.

There quality, display, speed are in particular made to give you a far above the ground quality thrill, and these kinds of things are probable through dedicated servers. If you pay money for a game DVD, how much time you play? At one period, to play that game getting so boring, this is the major reason behind popularity of online games. With lend a hand of dedicated game servers’ people can play against someone else there is no want of same play station. This is the main reason, the online game providers never end require of dedicated game servers. Network bandwidth is one the crucial part in gaming business, because it must be compulsory always in upstream. Here home or office broadband Internet connection is not plenty. Normally with this type of connection, player does not get upstream bandwidth to host out-and-out game servers more than five to ten clients, but in the past years this is the only option was available for game hosting.

Couple of years before, the player who have the game, host the server and also run the client. However, on another side, the bandwidth provider of latest broadband service, handle the outgoing traffic at same time, therefore the host computer struggled to provide a good quality of service to the players on the network, while at the same time running the game on the same computer.

However, the online game providers realized, the importance of dedicated servers, because they need professional server to read data and transferring huge amounts of data as fast as players need it, therefore they purchased rack mounted server machines and collocated them inside Data Center Services to host their games Website. They paid monthly charges for it and the services they got is invaluable, these set ups improved the quality of their games.

What is SMPP?

November 22nd, 2010

The Short Message Peer-to-Peer (SMPP) protocol is a telecommunications industry protocol for exchanging SMS messages between SMS peer entities such as short message service centers and/or External Short Messaging Entities. It is often used to allow third parties (e.g. value-added service providers like news organizations) to submit messages, often in bulk.

SMPP was originally designed by Aldiscon, a small Irish company that was later acquired by Logica (now split off and known as Acision). In 1999, Logica formally handed over SMPP to the SMPP Developers Forum, later renamed as The SMS Forum and now disbanded. The SMPP protocol specifications are still available through the website which also carries a notice stating that it will be taken down at the end of 2007. As part of the original handover terms, SMPP ownership has now returned to Acision due to the disbanding of the SMS forum.

The protocol is based on pairs of request/response PDUs (protocol data units, or packets) exchanged over OSI layer 4 (TCP session or X.25 SVC3) connections. PDUs are binary encoded for efficiency.

In SMPP terminology, two types of entities is defined, a Short Message Service Centre (SMSC), and an External Short Messaging Entity (ESME).

In simplistic terms, an SMSC manages SMS messages for a mobile operator network, delivering SMS messages to mobile phones.

An ESME is any other type of entity that wants to exchange SMS messages with these mobile subscribers.  In other words, it is any type of application or service that wants to be able to send and/or receive SMS messages. These applications or services are also often referred to as Value Added Services (VAS) or Value Added Service Providers (VASP).

The SMPP protocol is designed to facilitate the exchange of these SMS messages over the standard TCP/IP protocol. SMPP is designed to be fast and efficient to facilitate high volume reliable message exchange.

This page is designed to be a quick resource for more information on SMPP.  The following links provide more detailed information on specific issues or considerations regarding SMPP (especially for users of Now SMS):

The most commonly used versions of SMPP are v3.3, the most widely supported standard, and v3.4, which adds transceiver support (single connections that can send and receive messages). Data exchange may be synchronous, where each peer must wait for a response for each PDU being sent, and asynchronous, where multiple requests can be issued in one go and acknowledged in a skew order by the other peer. The latest version of SMPP is v5.0.

Guidelines about Reseller Web Hosting.

November 22nd, 2010

Reseller hosting offers small businesses and personal website owners the ability to give their clients web hosting at a reasonableprice. The premise behind the service is that the owner of the hosting account will offer some portion of their storage space and bandwidth to clients of theirs that only want the simplest of web hosting packages.

Typically, such resellers of hosting services generally team up with a bigger, better known service provider which presently possesses all of the support and infrastructure.

What can be the best advantage of a web hosting reseller? It is that one can gain few additional bucks’ collateral to web hosting. One can even make it as a full time source. Few of the web hosting resellers delivers a very good amount.

Selecting a correct Reseller web hosting:

It is not if one look for a web hosting reseller according to his/her requirement. One should search for a hosting reseller one whom one can rely upon, delivering excellent customer support. A good web hosting reseller provides all the necessary tools that are required for a successful website which helps in boosting one’s business.

What one would understand by the term Reseller Web Hosting?

A reseller will get a reseller hosting account through Reseller web hosting which later resell space and bandwidth to his/her own clients. This type of service demands a lump of space and bandwidth.

What the terms Web Hosting Reseller represent?

It refers to a person or a company that acts like an agent to resell the products and services related to hosting companies. Such a reseller can receive commissions and/or discounts from the respective web hosting Reseller Company. These resellers even get the right to build their own custom web reseller accounts for the purpose of re-sell the product to their respective customers.

One should know that to deal with a reseller web hosting company, he/she has to sacrifice some of the rights. One should need to ensure that he/she may not have to counter with the trouble of downtime. If this problem arises one may loose the link of crucial emails and/or sales coming through valuable clients.

If the quest ends on a right selection one can achieve heights in the reseller web hosting service sector. One can provide hosting service to the customers and conclude web site building at the same time. That’s the reason one should hunt for a web hosting company that puts the option of multiple hosting accounts along with their web hosting reseller services. After that, a web creator can involve in the hosting services of their client’s sites directly from their own respective reseller web hosting account.

Tips and tricks on effective web design.

November 15th, 2010

The first  rule is  that every web designer should follow is to create a fast loading web site. You might have a great design but very few people are going to see it if it takes a long time to load. While designing a web site always think about how long it will take to load. Try out our tips to build a great looking web site that also loads fast.

  • Minimize the use of images – The key to a fast loading web site is to minimize the use of images. Images do enhance a page but don’t make 80% of your web site only images. Instead break it down as much as possible to simple HTML. Notice the popular sites like Yahoo, Google, Ebay, Amazon etc., they have very few images because the load time is more important. Very often simple designs are the best.
  • Optimize images for the web – Once you have decided on the images that you need on your site, make sure that it is optimized for the web. They should be in the gif or jpeg format. You can also minimize the size of the image by choosing the number of colors you need, from the color palette. The less the colors you choose, the less the size of the image. You can also use online tools like Gif Wizard to optimize your images or to get a recommendation on how to cut down the size of an image.
  • Use Tables creatively – You can get some great looking designs by using tables creatively. Tables load very fast because it is just HTML code. Tables can be used in the homepage, menus or anywhere you like. Check out our homepage and our menus to see how we have used tables in our site.
  • Design simple icons – Instead of using big, bulky images use simple and small icons that add a little color and draw the attention of a visitor. We have used small icons in our homepage to highlight the main sections of our site.
  • Try out CSS Styles – Have fun with CSS styles to get some cool text effects. Again, a CSS Style is simple HTML code so it loads very fast. You can create cool rollovers using CSS Styles.
  • Use Flash sparingly – There seems to be a lot of hype about Flash but I recommend that you minimize the use of Flash on a site. Don’t make entire sites using Flash. It may look great but it takes hours to load and can really put off visitors. If you do want to use Flash use it within an HTML site and make sure it loads fast.
  • Keep checking your load time – Last but not least, before you decide on the final design of your web site; check its load time on NetMechanic. This site gives you a free analysis of your web site which is extremely useful. We kept using it to improve our site till we got a report that said good loading time!

A New Way of Thinking.

November 15th, 2010

HTML 5 comes with more than just a bunch of new elements to increase the semantic juice of your site, it brings with it a whole new way of thinking.

The ‘header-section-footer’ approach to markup is one that actually makes a lot of sense when talking strictly about the semantics of information. A section is a block of content, which usually includes an introductory overview of the forthcoming content and additional meta-information about it’s content.

A lot of HTML 5 is about following this header-section-footer approach. That is, the page can have a header, section and footer, and within those sections can be another group of headers, sections and footers which take the scope of the parent sectioning element.

<header>

<header>
<section>
        <header>
        <section>
               <header>
               <section>
               <footer>
        <footer>
               <header>
               <section>
               <footer>
<section>
<section>
<footer>

Of course, not every sectioning element needs to have all 3 elements. You can use any combination of them or none at all. In fact, it gets quite complex, so you might just want to take a read of the HTML 5 spec yourself.

At first, glance we were not happy with the elements of HTML 5. It feels as though it’s directing the page layout. But you need to move past what you know is a header and footer. Breaking down your content to this fundamental level, regardless of design, allows you to structure it with semantic meaning, but still create whatever design you’ve come up with. With HTML 5 I think we need to be extra careful that we don’t fall into the trap of uninspiring design patterns.

Dynamic HTML.

November 15th, 2010

Dynamic HTML, or DHTML, is an umbrella term for a collection of technologies used together to create interactive and animated web sites by using a combination of a static markup language (such as HTML), a client-side scripting language (such as JavaScript), a presentation definition language (such as CSS), and the Document Object Model.

DHTML allows scripting languages to change variables in a web page’s definition language, which in turn affects the look and function of otherwise “static” HTML page content, after the page has been fully loaded and during the viewing process. Thus the dynamic characteristic of DHTML is the way it functions while a page is viewed, not in its ability to generate a unique page with each page load.

By contrast, a dynamic web page is a broader concept — any web page generated differently for each user, load occurrence, or specific variable values. This includes pages created by client-side scripting, and ones created by server-side scripting (such as PHP, Perl, JSP or ASP.NET) where the web server generates content before sending it to the client.

Uses

DHTML allows authors to add effects to their pages that are otherwise difficult to achieve. For example, DHTML allows the page author to:

  • Animate text and images in their document, independently moving each element from any starting point to any ending point, following a predetermined path or one chosen by the user.
  • Embed a ticker that automatically refreshes its content with the latest news, stock quotes, or other data.
  • Use a form to capture user input, and then process and respond to that data without having to send data back to the server.
  • Include rollover buttons or drop-down menus.

A less common use is to create browser-based action games. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, a number of games were created using DHTML, but differences between browsers made this difficult: many techniques had to be implemented in code to enable the games to work on multiple platforms. Recently browsers have been converging towards the web standards, which has made the design of DHTML games more viable. Those games can be played on all major browsers and they can also be ported to Widgets for Mac OS X and Gadgets for Windows Vista, which are based on DHTML code.

Some disadvantages of DHTML are that it is difficult to develop and debug due to varying degrees of support among web browsers of the technologies involved, and that the variety of screen sizes means the end look can only be fine-tuned on a limited number of browser and screen-size combinations. Development for relatively recent browsers, such as Internet Explorer 5.0+, Mozilla Firefox 2.0+, and Opera 7.0+, is aided by a shared Document Object Model. Basic DHTML support was introduced with Internet Explorer 4.0, although there was a basic dynamic system with Netscape Navigator 4.0. JavaScript libraries such as jQuery have abstracted away much of the day-to-day difficulties in cross-browser DOM manipulation.

seo benefits of blogging.

November 11th, 2010

Is blog optimization part of search marketing? Absolutely! Blogs are web site content management systems with additional functionality such as comments, trackbacks and RSS. Blogs are really no different than web sites.

If you can optimize a document and that document gets indexed, categorized and ranked by a search engine, its part of search marketing in our book. As such, marketers should be aware of how these kinds of channels can be used within the overall online marketing mix. Blogs are one of many platforms that benefit from optimization.

We sincerely believe using blog software to manage certain kinds of content on a web site such as an online media room, to archive newsletters, post frequently asked questions and to provide product updates can make a site that is otherwise very search engine un-friendly, become a viable source of great rankings. This applies to both regular search engines as well as blog search engines. These are applications for a blog besides the common use as a platform to increase credibility and communicate a more personalized voice for a company.

Blogs are no silver bullet though and require working hard and smart – especially smart. However the payoff can be significant.

Online Marketing Blog receives the majority of its traffic from search engines. We can’t mention any of our clients, so we’ll risk being a bit vain and offer a few of our own examples. This is a blog after all and these are very practical, verifiable ranking examples.

While blogs used to be primarily kept by individuals (as online diaries), they have come into their own as business and marketing tools.

Basically, a blog is a website with content arranged in chronological order. Once set up, a blog is easy to publish as you don’t need any HTML / web coding skills. Blogs have a fill-in-the-blank interface where you enter your content. Then you click a “Publish” button and presto, your new content is automatically converted into HTML code and published to a viewable page — in a matter of seconds.

Here’s where search engine optimization comes into play. By default, blogs do many things well that can help them earn search engine ranking. In many cases, blogs can achieve solid ranking faster than regular websites. A blog is easier to publish than a regular website, so you can post content to it more often. Search engines like websites with frequently updated content.

Our Technology.

November 9th, 2010

100% Dell Server

Dell is a multinational technology corporation focused on personal computers and related products, and based in Round Rock, Texas, USA.

Dell gives the name Power Edge (PE) to its server product line, which as of 2007 brought in approximately 15% of Dell’s overall revenue from computer-hardware sales.

Most PowerEdge servers use the x86 architecture. The early exceptions to this, the Power Edge 3250, PowerEdge 7150, and PowerEdge 7250, used Intel’s Itanium processor, but Dell abandoned Itanium in 2005 after failing to find adoption in the marketplace. The partnership between Intel and Dell remained close, with Intel remaining the exclusive source of processors in Dell’s servers until 2006. In May 2006 Dell announced that it also intended to develop servers using AMD Opteron processors. The first Opteron-based PowerEdge systems, the PowerEdge 6950 and the PowerEdge SC1435, appeared in October 2006.

PowerEdge machines come configured as tower, rack-mounted, or blade servers. Dell uses a consistent chip-set across servers in the same generation regardless of packaging,allowing for a common set of drivers and system-images.

We only use Dell servers in our web hosting platform. Utilizing state-of-the-art technology we have built a web hosting platform that is second to none.

Our platform is designed in such a way that if any server fails another server automatically and without delay takes over that server’s workload. For example, if one of our mail servers breaks down another server automatically comes online, with all the correct configuration, and takes over the work of the failed server. During this period no email is lost.

As well as this, all data is stored in two large network disk arrays. Data is automatically synchronised between the arrays so that in the event of an array failing the remaining array continues to serve data to the servers with no downtime.
